Equivalence

Terms and Conditions of Service

Equivalence World LDA — Version 2.0
Effective from: 29 September 2026

These Terms govern the relationship between you and Equivalence when you use our platform and purchase an Equivalent Profile. Please read them before creating your account or purchasing any of our packs: by doing so, you agree to be bound by them.

When we say “we”, “Equivalence” or “EQV” in this document, we mean Equivalence World LDA. When we say “you”, we mean you as a user.

2. What the Equivalent Profile is

The Equivalent Profile is an analysis of your education and professional experience in relation to a specific destination country. It compares what you have studied and your work experience with references from that country, and provides equivalence percentages, a classification of your skills according to international standards, actionable guidance, local resources and an Equivalence certificate.

So there is no doubt, and because we want you to decide based on accurate information:

  • Official recognition is granted by the competent bodies in each country — such as DGES or the NARIC network for academic matters, and professional associations and regulatory bodies for professional authorisation. Our analysis tells you what to expect before you get there and does not determine what those bodies will decide.
  • It is not a job offer and does not guarantee employment, an interview or participation in a recruitment process.
  • It is not legal or immigration advice. The guidance and resources it includes are informed orientation; decisions about your immigration or administrative status are made by the competent authorities.
  • Equivalence percentages are reasoned estimates, not exact measurements. We explain what we base them on so that you can assess them.

3. Your account

To use the service, you need to create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for everything that happens through your account. If you suspect that someone has accessed it, contact us at info@equivalence.world as soon as possible.

You may have only one account. Within that account, you may have several Equivalent Profiles, one for each destination country that interests you. Creating duplicate accounts breaches these Terms and may lead to the additional accounts being blocked or closed.

The service is intended for people over 18 years of age. We do not accept registrations from minors and do not knowingly collect their data.

The information you provide — your education, experience and contact details — must be truthful and accurate, and you must keep it up to date. Your Profile is built on what you tell us and what you confirm: if that information is incorrect, the result will also be affected.

4. Our packs

We offer three packs. Each pack is purchased for one destination country.

PackWhat it includesPrice
ExploreA first look: one educational experience and one professional experience assessed, with one local equivalence for each, plus a basic executive summaryFree · one activation per account
NavigateUp to 3 educational experiences and 3 professional experiences assessed, with 3 local equivalences per experience, equivalence percentages against local references, comparative analysis, roadmap, local resources and a downloadable EQV Certificate€79.99 · launch price for the first 100 profiles (standard price: €159.99)
GuidedUp to 5 educational experiences and 5 professional experiences, with 3 local equivalences per experience, everything in Navigate, plus two live 30-minute sessions with our team: one to gather the profile information and one for delivery and feedback. Limited availability each month.€359.99

Explore is free and can only be activated once per account, for the country you choose. It does not require a card or any commitment.

All packs are one-off payments. There is no subscription, no automatic renewal and we will not charge you anything on a recurring basis.

We may change our prices at any time. The price that applies to you is always the price published at the time of your purchase, and any later change does not affect you.

5. Prices, taxes and invoices

The prices you see are final: they include the taxes applicable according to your country of residence. There are no additional charges at checkout.

  • If you reside in the European Union, the price includes the applicable Portuguese VAT.
  • If you reside outside the European Union, the transaction is not subject to Portuguese VAT and this will be stated on your invoice.

This is why we ask for your country of residence: it determines the tax treatment of your purchase and the information shown on your invoice. It must be the country where you actually reside.

For every purchase, you will receive an invoice issued by Equivalence World LDA, which we will send to you by email and which you can download from your private area.

Payments are processed through Stripe. Equivalence does not store your card details.

6. When preparation of your Profile begins

While you prepare your request, the document you upload remains in your browser: it does not reach our servers and we do not process it in any way.

Preparation of your Profile begins when you activate the service: when you click “Activate for free” in Explore, or when you complete payment in Navigate or Guided. At that point, we start processing the documentation you have provided and, within a few minutes, show you the information we have identified so that you can review and confirm it.

That confirmation forms part of the preparation process: we perform the assessment and build your Profile based on the information you confirm. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you confirm, so please take a moment to review it.

If you do not complete the confirmation, your Profile remains pending. We will email you so that you can resume it.

7. Delivery times

PackDelivery time
ExploreNormally within 1 business day
NavigateNormally within 3 business days
GuidedYour Profile within 72 hours following your first session. Delivery takes place during the second session we agree with you

Delivery times are counted from the moment you confirm your Profile information. If you take longer to confirm it, the delivery period starts when you do.

If we do not meet the deadline, we will inform you of a new date and explain the reason. If we still do not deliver your Profile, you may terminate the contract and receive your money back.

8. Your right of withdrawal

As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 calendar days, without having to give a reason.

When purchasing Navigate or Guided, we ask you to expressly agree that preparation of your Profile begins immediately, before that period ends. If you agree, you lose the right of withdrawal when preparation begins. We explain this before payment, through a separate checkbox that you select, and we confirm it in writing in your purchase confirmation email.

If you prefer not to agree, we cannot begin until the 14-day period has elapsed.

Explore is free and does not give rise to a right of withdrawal because there is no amount to refund.

Guided: the sessions are separate

In Guided, the live sessions with our team are a service separate from the Profile. If you withdraw before all sessions have taken place, we will refund the proportional amount corresponding to the sessions not provided. For these purposes, the Guided price is broken down as follows:

ItemAmount
Preparation of the Equivalent Profile€229.99
Profile information session (30 min)€65.00
Delivery and feedback session (30 min)€65.00
Total€359.99

9. If something is wrong with your Profile

If your Profile contains an error or defect, contact us at info@equivalence.world within 30 days after delivery and we will review and update it at no cost. This includes one free review per Profile.

We will return your updated Profile normally within 72 hours and always within 5 business days from receiving your message. If we are unable to resolve the issue, we will refund the amount paid.

This review applies to all packs, including Explore.

What we review and update

Errors in your data — when what appears in your Profile does not match what you provided:

  • The name of your qualification is changed or incomplete.
  • The institution where you studied is incorrectly identified or confused with another institution.
  • The level or type of study is incorrectly classified — for example, a master's degree recorded as a bachelor's degree.
  • The dates of education or employment are incorrect, or a period is missing.
  • The job title, company or sector of a professional experience is incorrectly recorded.
  • An experience is missing even though you provided it, or an experience that is not yours appears.
  • Your personal details — name, surname, country — are misspelled in the document or certificate.

Document defects — when the file you receive has not been properly generated:

  • An incomplete or empty section that should be included under your pack.
  • Ungenerated text, placeholders or technical fields visible in the document.
  • A file that does not open or is downloaded corrupted.
  • Obvious calculation errors: percentages outside the valid range, totals that do not add up, or contradictions between sections.

What is not an error

If what you disagree with is our assessment — the equivalence percentage assigned to your qualification, the institutions or companies we compare you with, or the guidance we provide — that is not an error: it is a professional analysis with which you may disagree.

In that case, you can ask us to explain the basis of our assessment and to review the result. We will do so, and a member of our team will review your case. However, we do not guarantee a particular result and we do not change an assessment simply because you would prefer a different one.

A result is also not an error when it is explained by the information you provided: if you omitted an experience or confirmed incorrect information during the review step, contact us and we will still update it within your free review.

These commitments are in addition to your legal rights and do not replace them. As a consumer, you have the right to conformity of the digital content you have purchased for the period established by law, regardless of this commercial guarantee.

10. Guided: how the sessions work

Guided includes two 30-minute sessions with our team: one to gather your profile information and another for delivery and feedback. They take place by video call, on a date and time agreed with you. We do not record them.

After your purchase, you will receive an email with your invoice and the link to schedule your first session. If you do not schedule it, we will send you up to two reminders with the same link.

  • The link remains active for 30 days after your purchase.
  • After 30 days, contact us at info@equivalence.world and we will send you a new link, at no cost or penalty. You can do this as many times as you need.
  • Final deadline: 12 months after your purchase. If by then you have not scheduled your first session, we will prepare your Equivalent Profile with the information you have already provided, deliver it to you, and refund the €130 corresponding to the two sessions not provided. You keep the full Guided Profile, with all its assessed experiences.

You may cancel or reschedule an already booked session by giving us at least 24 hours' notice. If you do not attend and do not notify us, the session is considered provided, although you can always contact us to explain what happened.

If we are the ones unable to attend the session, we will reschedule it at no cost and it will not count against your deadlines.

11. Your Profile is yours

You can download your Equivalent Profile as a PDF whenever you want. The copy you download is yours and you may keep it indefinitely, including if you close your account. In your private area, we keep your Profile available while your account remains active, within the retention periods set out in our Privacy Policy.

We grant you a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free and irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, share and publish your own Equivalent Profile for any purpose, including presenting it to employers, educational institutions, public bodies and any other organisation that interests you. You do not need to ask our permission or credit us.

Equivalence retains ownership of the methodology, equivalence matrices, models, catalogues, platform, software and trademarks used to build your Profile. None of these are transferred to you, and you may not reproduce, decompile, resell or use them to create an equivalent service.

12. What you provide

Everything you upload or enter on the platform remains yours. You grant us only the licence necessary to provide the service to you: process your information, store it, generate your Profile and display it to you.

That licence does not allow us to disclose your information to third parties. If in the future we offer a service involving sharing your Profile with companies or organisations, we will ask you for separate and specific permission, which you may withdraw at any time.

You are responsible for having the right to provide what you submit to us and for ensuring that it does not infringe third-party rights.

13. Proper use of the platform

When using the service, you agree not to:

  • Provide false information about your identity, education or professional experience.
  • Impersonate another person or use another person's account.
  • Attempt to access parts of the platform that you are not authorised to access, or other people's data.
  • Extract data automatically — scraping, data mining, robots or crawlers — without our written permission.
  • Introduce malicious software or take actions that degrade or interrupt the service.
  • Reproduce, distribute or publicly communicate platform content without authorisation, except for your own Profile, which you may share freely.
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to circumvent the immigration, employment or education rules of any country.

If you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, we may suspend or close your account. We will notify you and explain the reason, unless the law prevents us from doing so.

14. Closing your account

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at info@equivalence.world or through your account settings.

When you close it, we delete your account and profile data within 30 days. We retain only:

  • Billing documents, for 10 years, because Portuguese law requires us to do so.
  • Evidence of your purchases — what you purchased, when, and what you agreed to — for 3 years, so that we can respond to a complaint or claim.

Everything else is deleted or irreversibly anonymised. The PDF of your Profile that you have downloaded remains yours: closing your account does not affect it.

Closing your account and requesting a refund are different things. Closing your account does not refund the price of a Profile that has already been delivered.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do:

  • We will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance, explaining what is changing.
  • If you do not agree, you may close your account at no cost before the new Terms take effect.
  • Changes do not affect purchases you have already made. Each purchase is governed by the Terms in force on the date of purchase.

We always publish the current version and its effective date.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection granted by the mandatory rules of your country of habitual residence, and you may bring a claim before the courts of your place of residence.

Talk to us first

If something has not gone well, contact us at info@equivalence.world. Most issues can be resolved this way, and more quickly.

Complaints Book

You can submit a complaint through the Electronic Complaints Book: https://www.livroreclamacoes.pt/Inicio/

Alternative dispute resolution

In the event of a consumer dispute, you may use an alternative dispute resolution entity. The competent entity is:

CACCL — Centro de Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo de Lisboa
Rua dos Douradores, 112, 2.º e 3.º — 1100-207 Lisboa
www.centroarbitragemlisboa.pt

On a residual basis, for areas not covered by another competent entity:
CNIACC — Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo · www.cniacc.pt

If you reside in another European Union country, you may also use an alternative dispute resolution entity in your own country.

17. Languages

These Terms are available in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The version binding on you is the version in which you purchased the service. The Spanish version is Equivalence's internal reference version.

18. Other matters

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in force.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not permit it, nor any rights granted to you by consumer protection law.
